COVID-19, WOMEN and HEALTH

In the COVID-19 pandemic, as in different types of disasters such as earthquakes and migration, it has been observed that women have difficulties in accessing their basic health rights and needs. Since many hospitals were declared as pandemic hospitals and many women could not go to remote hospitals using public transportation from fear of getting sick, they could not benefit from reproductive and sexual health services. During the pandemic, tasks such as house cleaning, patient care and preparing food have made the workload of women heavier than ever. Women spent more time at home due to cultural reasons or because they were dismissed more than men during the pandemic process and were more affected by the health problems caused by this situation.

Starting from these data and observations, we prepared the ‘COVID-19, Women and Health’ brochure series for women on protection of health during the COVID-19 pandemic. The brochures were printed to be distributed to women residing in Istanbul, especially in Esenyurt. You can access the Turkish versions of the brochures from here.

Women’s Consultation and Solidarity Center project was supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
